This winter product relates to Polar animals living in the Arctic Tundra and Antarctic. It contains three activities for students to identify and learn the names of animals living in Polar regions. There are worksheets for early finishers and two sets of differentiated Write the Room activities.

Worksheets A to E - Use with Set 1 cards (Unnumbered) for Write the Room activity. There are 5 pictures per worksheet.
Set of Polar animal cards (Unnumbered) for Write the Room
Set 2: Write the Room with differentiated recording sheets with a set of numbered Polar animal cards 1 to 20.
Worksheets 1 to 6: Multiple choice
Preparation is required for the write the room activities. Laminate for long use and cut apart the picture cards to be placed around the classroom. There are two sets of pictures cards.
The unnumbered cards are used with worksheets A to E. You can decide which worksheets to hand out and select the picture cards that are on the worksheets for students to find and write the name of the animals.
The numbered pictures cards 1 to 20 (Set 2) are used with the recording sheets which shows twenty Polar animals for students to find and record their names.
For early finishers/extra work:
Worksheets 1 to 6: Multiple choice - Each worksheet contains 4 pictures and a choice of 6 animal names. Students fill the gap in each sentence by writing the correct name. ‘This is a __________________’.

These worksheets relate to tracing lowercase letters and writing corresponding uppercase letters. Students should then cut out and glue the correct pictures starting with the initial/beginning sound of the letters.

Activity:
Students should match the uppercase letter on the penguin’s tummy with the correct lowercase letter. They should carefully cut around the hat showing the matching lowercase letter and glue it onto the outline of the penguin’s hat.
Trace the lower and uppercase letters.
Color one of the pictures that begins with the letter sound shown on the penguin.

This reading comprehension bundle includes 4 lovely fiction stories.
The vocabulary is age-appropriate and children are encouraged to work out the meaning of words in the context of the story.
The subject matters are familiar to the children and so there are cross-curricular themes.
The booklets cater for all level of readers - The Chase being the easiest.
Booklets 2 are divided into sections. So each paragraph is followed by questions.
Some of the questions require the reader to 'read between the lines'.
Not only is a child's comprehension assessed but other English key skills are incorporated.
The resource can be given to more able pupils to work on independently.
The booklets can also be used in guided reading sessions. The questions are extensive so the children can answer a set of questions in one session and do another set of questions in another session.

Print and laminate the whole card or you can cut apart the strips and mix them up.
Children look at the picture and say what it is. They then unscramble the word in the centre and write it out correctly using phonemes previously taught.
Other suggested use:
You can cut apart the strips so that you have 56 onset and rime strips. Select the strip you want children to match up and unscramble the cvc words.
Children can match up the pictures that rhyme and then unscramble the words and say the cvc words that rhyme. They can record their work in their literacy workbooks.

This single phonics pack focuses on initial consonant blend ‘sk’ CCVC words.
As with the other consonant blends packs:
it is child-centred
child-friendly and
a progression from CVC and CCV to CCVC Phase 4: Letters and Sounds Phonics.
Aimed at: Early Years and keystage 1, SEND and ESL/EFL students.
It is an addition to my other resources on initial consonant blends.
This pack contains:
Flexible Lesson Plan with learning objectives, lesson starter, main activities and plenary - You can choose which parts are relevant to your class. PowerPoint slides are referred to in the plan.
PowerPoint Presentation 1 (30 Slides)- includes explanation of initial blend, CCVC words; whole class/group activities to prepare children for their independent activities.
Also includes alien and real word whole class activity.
PowerPoint Phoneme Presentation (11 Slides) - Optional (Use as reference) - some children may still be struggling with segmenting/blending) - I have listed a few CCVC words and the units of sound above the fingers so that children can see and hear the separate phonemes (with pictures) - extension some children may be able to give you other meaning for the words in a sentence. As an example, I have highlighted that ‘skip’ has different meanings.
Encourage children to make simple sentences with the words to understand its meaning and distinguish between nouns, verbs or adjectives.
Flashcards and words with and without sound buttons and lines - there are two versions of ‘k’

2 Activity Sheets - Activity Sheet 1 - trace over initial blends, read the words and then draw a picture.

A natural progression from CVC and CCV to CCVC Phase 4: Letters and Sounds Principles and Practice.
Aimed at: Early Years and keystage 1, SEND and ESL/EFL students.

Worksheet 1 - Making Tw- CCVC Words from a table - Children list as many words as they can and then choose 3 words and write a sentence for each word.
Worksheet 2 - Differentiated - Same as above, except children draw a picture for each word listed in the table and then label the pictures.
